IGI Global Scientific Publishing is pleased to announce the forthcoming publication of Societal, Legislative, and International Implications of War Crimes, Genocide, and Ethnic Cleansing (2027), authored and edited by Piotr Pietrzak. Grupa Uczelni Vistula In Statu Nascendi Think Tank

This interdisciplinary volume offers a critical examination of how societies, legal systems, and the international community respond to the enduring consequences of genocide, ethnic cleansing, and war crimes.

Inspired by Samantha Power's influential work, A Problem from Hell: America and the Age of Genocide (2002), the book addresses one of the defining moral and political questions of our time: Why does "Never Again" continue to fail? It explores the challenges of post-conflict justice, transitional justice, jus post bellum, reconciliation, and international accountability while examining the long-term societal and legislative implications of mass atrocities.

The volume brings together scholarship examining historical and contemporary cases, including the Holocaust and Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Gulag Archipelago, Chechnya, Rwanda, Srebrenica, Darfur, Ghouta, Bucha, Irpin, Mariupol, Nagorno-Karabakh, the Tigray region of Ethiopia, and Sudan. Rather than focusing solely on the atrocities themselves, contributors investigate how affected societies rebuild institutions, pursue justice, preserve historical memory, and confront the legal and ethical consequences of mass violence.

"This publication seeks to deepen scholarly and policy discussions on justice after atrocity," said Piotr Pietrzak. "By bringing together diverse perspectives from law, political science, international relations, history, and peace studies, the volume aims to contribute to a better understanding of how societies can move from violence toward accountability, reconciliation, and sustainable peace."

The publication is intended for researchers, policymakers, legal practitioners, educators, and graduate students working in international law, human rights, genocide studies, transitional justice, peace and conflict studies, political science, and international relations.

As conflicts continue to challenge the international rules-based order, this volume provides a timely contribution to ongoing debates surrounding accountability, human rights, collective memory, and the responsibilities of the international community in preventing and responding to atrocity crimes.
