Both workshops will be conducted under the Chatham House Rule. Participants are free to use the information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of speakers or other participants may be revealed. No recording or attribution is permitted. This rule exists to encourage open, honest, and rigorous discussion. #InStatuNascendi #vistulauniversity
Key Principles
Information is Shareable: You can use the points, ideas, and information discussed.
Anonymity is Key: You cannot identify who said something, nor their organization.
Not Legally Binding: It's an expectation of behavior, not a law, but widely respected.
Why It's Used
Encourages Free Speech: Allows participants to voice opinions they might not express if they could be identified.
Builds Trust: Creates a safe environment for honest dialogue.
Facilitates Complex Issues: Helps navigate sensitive subjects in government, corporate, and charity sectors.
How It Works
Example: If a minister says, "We might cut taxes next year," under the rule, you can report that "a minister hinted at potential tax cuts," but you can't say, "Minister Smith said...".
Applies Everywhere: Can be used in any meeting, not just at Chatham House.
