Deaths in Balkan conflicts vary widely by war, with the Yugoslav Wars (1990s) causing around 130,000-140,000 deaths (mainly in Bosnia and Kosovo). Still, this is a matter of the past. Today, the Balkans is one of the most peaceful regions in Europe. Definitely more peaceful than Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
